The importance of BOM analysis and PCB prototyping in the NPI phase
A successful new product introduction (NPI) depends on making the right choices at the front end. Especially the analysis of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and the careful design and testing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) are decisive for quality, manufacturability and delivery reliability.
BOM analysis: insight gives control
Global Electronics performs an in-depth BOM analysis on every project. This prevents surprises in the production phase and makes costs and delivery times predictable.
What we examine:
- component availability (including long-term availability);
- suitability of alternatives;
- risks of end-of-life or delivery problems;
- optimization opportunities for assembly.
Result: a reliable, future-proof design that fits the realities of the supply chain.
PCB prototyping as precision work
The design and production of initial PCBs is a critical step. Errors at this stage often lead to delays or increased failure costs. That is why we test extensively - for functionality, soldering, placement and electrical performance.
We use:
- automated SMT placement;
- optical and electrical inspection;
- small batch production for verification.
This approach allows us to move quickly between design, testing and optimization.
